The London Docklands was rejuvenated in the 1980s and 1990s and is therefore a haven for modern architecture. The key buildings of the Canary Wharf development were designed by Sir Norman Foster and Cesar Pelli & Associates; the cavernous underground station was also designed by Sir Norman Foster. Nearby Southwark underground station was designed by Sir Richard MacCormac.
